The 160-year-old Hardayal Heritage Library situated in Chandni Chowk and all its branches within the capital area has been closed. The library workers didn’t get the wage for about 17 months, so the offended workers have locked the library and so they have gone on an indefinite strike. They are saying that they won’t return to work till they get their wage.
Hardayal Municipal Public Library was established in 1862. It’s the oldest library in Delhi. The library has greater than 1.7 lakh books, letters and periodicals, of which 8,000 are uncommon manuscripts. Tons of of huge and small newspapers come right here every day.
